Lightbulb TA 420i - slow printing from Unix

    Hello,

We have a problem with Kyocera TaskAlfa 420i printer in our company. We change OS on WinXP machines to Linux (ubuntu based 16.04) and we have a problem with printing, the PDF files with few pages are printed with delay between pages (5 pages PDF is printed for few minutes sometimes). Under Windows (7/10) the problem is not happening.
We tried several printer drivers (PPD from Kyocera site and whole drivers for linux system) - without change.

One option was almost perfect "Print as graphic" - but it didn't help for all printed files.

Anyone have and idea what could be done to lower the time needed for a printout?

It is 420i (BW) with 3000 finisher working in a network (static IP) - we changed cables and all stuff regarding networking.

    System: 2KS_2F00.009.006
    Mechanism: 2KS_1000.006.001
    Panel: 2KS_7000.009.004

    Any help would be appreciated.

It was AUTO - we changed it to KPDL (this was changed in drivers for Windows) - and it didn't change the time.

About the port settings - not sure what you mean, but under unix we tried:
    socket://*IP*:9100
    ipp://*IP*/ipp/631

Also tried to use smb shared printer from windows machine, but it wasnt helpful also
    smb://*IP*/*SharedPrinterName*

Think it's LPD not IPP and lp as port name

not sure why my reply is not showing

    CUPS setting:
    420i.jpg

From the printer web admin page:
    Logical Printer 1
    - TCP/IP Port Number: 9100
    - Bi-directional Printing: On

Are the PDF files you're trying to print "flattened"???TA 420i - slow printing from Unix How long does it take to print just a standard multi-page simple text file document???TA 420i - slow printing from Unix

Not sure about flattened PDF's - I would need to check few of them to be sure.
As for multi-page text document printing I will try to check it asap.

    95% of printed files are two-sided (contracts/agreements/regulations)

Sorry for newb question (im not an Linux specialist) - how to change grayscale to anything else?

In PPD for the printer I have only this:
    /etc/cups/ppd/Kyocera-TASKalfa-420i-BOK.ppd
    *DefaultColorSpace: Gray

Not sure if the PDF files are flattened (but dont think so)

As for the printout for multi-page simple text document will try to do one in next week and post a reply.

I cannot change to text/black from grayscale (or dont know where it can be done) - PDF of the printer doesnt have any other color setting than grayscale.

The two-sided printing is the main job of this printer (single pages are almost none)

Tried to add this reply 4 times yesterday, today still not showing (dont know why)
