I was just preparing to ask: what did you do just before it died? Maybe installed a fax board?
On one machine I bought a used fax board from Wulff Enterprises. The gentleman that removed the ribbon cables did not release them, just pulled them out. When I installed it the machine did some crazy stuff, then nothing at all. I'll cut/paste in the Excel record later. I eventually noticed that 4 of the conductors had peeled back from the ribbon cable, connecting poorly. I got extraordinarily lucky, and was able to trim off 1.5mm of the end of the ribbon and got it to connect properly. =^..^=

Can't access service mode. Can't download fax firmware. Can't access Fax Defaults in the System Menu (only the double beep). Can't access Fax Reports tab in the Fax screen (button grayed out). "Cover Open" indication when no covers are open. "Please Wait. Cannot be combined." when attempting to fax out. Ribbon cable from the fax control PWB to the main control PWB is damaged by removing the cable without releasing the clasp. Trim off the damaged end, or replace the ribbon cable (3CM27010).
