Ok... first time doing this and I am pretty much stumped...
I have 2 machines... a task alfa 250ci and a 300ci
both can copy, print, fax and scan
my customer requested that I set the copiers to give them an emailed fax confirmation...
I was able to accomplish that with the job end notice in advanced options under scanning.
the customer then said... they want it to display a picture in the email... sounds fair... ??
I went into the system menu and changed the option from no picture to picture...
It worked well for a few days on both copiers....
then I got a call that the picture option stopped working... on the job confirmation notice... upon arriving back at the site... I discovered it was not working in either copier...
they could copy, print, scan and fax....
in the scanning... scan to email works and even displays a pdf attachment
the job notice just does not add the pdf picture attachment.
I updated 300ci to firmware 5 then to firmware 6... nothing changed...
I tried fiddling with the job notice picture no picture selection... nothing changed...
I tried doing sim code 906 nothing changed...
I did the unthinkable and called the help desk... and was told the picture feature was not an option of the copier and they coud not find it in the manual... send them a picture of before and after for posterity
that was me... they gave me an incident number which I promptly threw in the garbage...
I then called my kyocera area tech... He led me to the april and may webinars which incidentally fix the task alfa dot issue... I checked out both but in the end nothing from that end either...
Here are my feelings....
I would say its the copier
but its two copiers with the exact same issue
and they pass through a windows 2003 network
and nothing else is wrong on the copier
just basically a pdf attachment in the job finish notice...
I feel it is the network...
I meet with the network engineer on monday and I should have the kyocera area tech on the line...
Let me know what you guys think... and monday I will update you...
In the meantime I have a workaround...
the customer sets the copier to fax, send a job end notice email and send an email to their email account... the emails match via the job number and date...
this whole process takes 14 steps...
and must be repeated if the fax isnt successfully sent...
thats the look the customer gave me...
I told them it would be best to just buy a 5 inch binder and print every fax confirmation with picture.... then 3 hole punch it and stick it in the binder but then they started crying out about paper costs...
all I could do was smile...
monday I will let you know what happens...
my thoughts on a conclusion.... kyocera has not put out an update for this issue as yet... they don't yet know it exist... think microsoft and windows updates and you know what i am dealing with...
