    SMB and TaskAlfa

    Hi,

I am facing problem using the SMB option in TaskAlfa 250ci to scan files to my folder in Mac OS X.5

Anyone face or have solution to this problem? Error 2101 .

According to the manual for the TASKalfa series, error 2101 is: The network cable is disconnected or the hub that it is connected to is not operating properly. Check the cable and the hub. Otherwise, the server name or the host name of the SMTP server is not set correctly. Use COMMAND CENTER and register the SMTP server name and the host name correctly.

    With that, I would try:
Let the MFP DHCP. It will hopefully grab all the necessary IP settings(subnet, gateway, domain name, DNS, etc) automatically(this also reduces user input error).
Try accessing the Mac using another computer(PC or Mac).
Use the IP address of the Mac vs its hostname.
Replace the Ethernet cable connecting the MFP to the network.

We have seen what may be similar. 2 sites both with 300ci machines both with Linux File Servers. One can scan a store a document to the server the other fails with error 1103. Which translates to invalid username or password.
A TCP dump reveals that the 300ci is sending in the right username (accepted by the server) and password (also accepted) but the 300ci then tries to write a test file beginning with . (a full stop) this is rejected. Is there a way to stop the test file or modify it from being a hidden file?

Why not use FTP you should be able to scan without any issues. OS X has built in ftp server. SMB sharing on OS X is kinda shabby at best.

Dont work so hard, on MAC only Scan to Mail can work.

Its not true that this is the only option but if you are pressed for time... scan to smtp or scan to mail might be a heck of a lot faster if you are not mac proficient...

Setting up scanning to the document box or to a flash drive would be best. Setting up scan to email can be a headache in itself especially if the customer is using a third party to host their email.

good idea if customer is tech savvy... for most of my customers I try to keep their interaction with the machine as simple as possible... any more and I will end up shooting myself in the foot...
