Problem with getting KM3050 to send scan to email

Just bought a KM3050, but i have some issues, i hope someone could help me with.

Hooked it up, with a network cable to my router, and added the printer on the different computer, and added drivers.

Was in command mode and setup my smtp settings, and email settings, but when i try to push the button send to email, and enter my email, it just get an error 1505 or somthing, and says that it cant send.

When i added the server settings, and push test, it says they are working.

The only thing i havent done is what stands her:

    http://www.kyoceramita.com.hk/driver...Falcon%203.pdf

It stands that For Scan to Email, DNS server is required. , is this true? Will it not work, if i do not put some values in her?

How do i find out what my dns values for my email server is?

If you temporarily set the machine to DHCP it will pick up WINS and DNS all by itself.

A simple way to acquire the DNS is to put your laptop on the network set to DHCP. Once connected, go to a command prompt and enter
C:\Documents and Settings\John Smith>ipconfig/all then Enter. The DNS will be listed.

The error code can help diagnose your connection problem. There is no "1505 or something". But if it is 1105, SMTP is not yet enabled in the web interface. I believe that the default is Off. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Once again thanks for the reply.

Regarding dns, is it my internet providers dns it needs? Or is it the SMTP servers dns it needs? I got my email adress hosting from an provider@web hotel , so the SMTP server dns would be diffent from my home office internet providers dns. So wich of theese adresses is needed to get it to work?

I am pretty sure i got the error you stated.

But in command center , i went under email, and under SMTP , and general. And added SMTP protocol to on, and entered my details.
After wards it sendt the information to the printer, could it be that the printer havent recived them?

Is there any way on the printer to check if the settings have been sendt over?

I was on a simular page as this:

    http://www.kyoceramita.com.hk/driver...Falcon%203.pdf

    On page 5.

But i diddent apply the dns server, could that cause the error you stated?

I haven't had much luck hooking up to external SMTP servers. I won't be able to help with that. =^..^=

A DNS server is required to resolve the hostname of the mail server, if that's what you're using. Like Blackcat said, open the cmd prompt & type ipconfig/all on the network the copier is on. This will show the DNS servers. You can always get around using DNS by pinging the mail server. It will reply with the IP address and you can use this where you'd input the mail server.
All a DNS server does, is look up the IP address of whatever you want. You'd never remember Google's address at 156.154.112.163 so when you type in www.google.com it goes to the DNS server & says hey what is the address for www.google.com It works the same when using the host name of the mail server. mail.domain.com needs to be converted to an IP address. If you use the IP address, you don't need DNS. DNS is good in case the IP address of the mail server ever changes though.
Depending on the mail server, you'll need a valid from address in the senders email address.
    Hope that helps !

Where in the adress book on the printer itself?

Or in command mode in email settings?

In the Command center. That's what I was talking about using a valid email address. Most servers require this to keep from sending spam.

I used a valied email adress, but i used the host name, not the ip adress, and haddent added a dns server, guess thats why it diddent send.

But when i test ipconfig /all i get the dns of the network i am hooked up to, but that is 192.168.0.1 , would that work for dns? Or do i need an external dns server?

192.168.0.1 is probably the IP address of the router and it should work. Is this the same network that the copier is on ?
    Hope that helps !
