    C2351 on TASKalfa

Ok. It started out simple enough. Gray background on prints and copies. I found something sticky on the transfer belt. Each time it comes around it snags on the transfer cleaning blade. No sweat. So I put it all together and I get a surprise: C2351.

I've seen the bulletin, so I order and install first the cleaning motor K, second black drum unit, third engine PWB. It's got v. 8.00 firmware. I've turned the cleaning drive by hand- it turns quite easily, yet in sim U030 'Paper Feed' the motor can be stopped very easily and seems to me to turning too slowly, much slower than the adjoining motor of the same type.

Along the way I've found a sheared off cleaning auger in the black drum unit, and after the engine PWB a CF18A (must be firmware since a flash solved that). This machine is kicking my butt.

I thought about the main drive unit, but have not pursued it yet. It a major pain to change, and I'd like a logical reason to do so.

Does anybody have any ideas? =^..^=

I have had to strip down the drive units for the dev and drums, because for some reason grease gets into the phospher bronze bushes and then it gets sticky, putting extra load on the drive motors. I don't know if this might be part of your problem, but I hope it helps.

Sorry I don't have anything constructive to add about your C2351 issue. I was setting up 2 new machines yesterday & got CF18A on both after updating them to V.8. I've used the download that I used yesterday successfully previously. I redownloaded & updated both machines with no problems. Not sure what the deal was.
    Hope that helps !

either the developer motors or the cleaning motors are shot. there is a tech bulletin on this. i usually replace both developer and both cleaning motors (4 total) since i have the machine apart.

If you think the motor is shot check the fuse on the motor pwb. when I have had a shot motor the fuse has been blown every time. the new motors have an uprated fuse

LNorris, the C2351 specifically indicates the cleaning motor K, which is now new. Are you implying that motors other than the cleaning motor K can create a C2351 code? I don't see the logic in this assertion. =^..^=

Morlock gets the prize for post #2.

The tech rep showed up this morning. We changed the other cleaning motor to the new style, no improvement. Then we removed the black drum unit, black developing unit, and hopper assembly, and ran simulation U030 Feed Motor. The cleaning motor K runs, but the male coupler for the black cleaning roller doesn't rotate. Not a twitch.

It's what I was hoping not to find: conclusive proof that the main drive assembly is bad. I'll pinpoint the damaged gears a followup post. =^..^=

One final twist. Once the C2351 was gone, the machine powered up but did not recognize the OEM toner cartridges. After only a few copies I got a Replace Black Toner indication. The new cartridge also read as Replace Black Toner.

After digging through the circuit diagram, it pointed to connector YC26 at the engine PWB. The connectors are really difficult separate from the PWB, and while I was yanking on the harness I partially disconnected the other end where it joins at the rear frame (and heads to the RFID board and toner motors). That was a real head scratcher.

At any rate, the machine is finally back up and running. =^..^=

    C2351

I want three of these for Christmas this year. NOT!!!!! LOL
I had streaks coming from the K drum unit. I replaced the K unit and then got the 2351 code. So I switched the K with the Y cleaning motors and the code went away but now as black cat was saying it starts asking for K Toner. I am going for cleaning motors and a sledge hammer. This does not make any sense and A factory rep needs to figure this out.
I will be back with the motors and follow up. I did not touch the engine board at all.

Could you have swapped a K cleaning motor with a K developing motor? They look nearly identical, except for the color of the round sticker on the flywheel ... and the part number printed on the part. =^..^=
