I own a copier rental company and with the "abuse" that our machines see, it seems like they eat drums. Do you know of a cheap alternative to replacing drums on KM-5035s. Are they able to be reconditioned or do you know of a place to buy just the drum, not the whole unit?

as far as i am aware you cant buy the drum on its own and nor can they supply the whole unit because of kyocera's quality control crap program.
The life of the drum is 400-500k depending on the model - if the customer is damaging them then build it into the rental agreement etc to charge them. As a dealer we get 3 years life or 500k so we dont bother looking for non oem drums etc because of the warranty.

The problem is we do short term (1 week) rentals and they client already gets charged a premium. I will add that into our agreement but I still want to save money when replacing drums.
do what they do on car rentals - offer insurance for damage or charge for damage by asking for a charge card before release so any damage gets deducted from their credit card etc.

outsource the parts on CHINA just like i do. i buy parts separately eg. drum blade CLroller etc. much cheaper, i put them back together,much cheaper
Katun is a good place to buy third party drums, that is if they have what you are looking for. They have a drum & blade kit for the 1650/2050 which works great. They do not carry the 2530/3035 drum. How bad are the drums? I always use wax on drums, OPC and ASi with great results.
aodtech: What do you mean about using wax on drums?? I have never in 30 years ever heard of anything like this. Please give me specifics on the type of wax and what it does for the drum. Have you done this to 3035/4035 drums?
