This is an easy one. The default limit for email attachment size is 1MB. A more useful limit it 20MB.
Go to the web interface, scanning, email, SMTP Setup. You'll see a line for email attachment size. Either its Low/Med/High/Unlimited, or a numerical value. Select High or 20000KB (=20MB), then Submit.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

These machines are new to us. Would you mind explaining the process of logging on to the web interface. I assume you just need to put the IP address into explorer and get in that way.
Yes, that's correct. If my memory serves me correctly there are two network card on this model, scanner & printer. The NIC you need to log onto is the scanner card.
The separate scan card is arranged a little differently than the menu I listed. Look for Email Basics or SMTP Basic. =^..^=

E-Mail Basic Setting > Data Size
You can select Non-restricted, High (2048 KB), Mid. (1024 KB) or Low (512 KB)
change the file type to pdf when on scanner network mode
