PDF file printing blank areas using adobe 8 on TASKalpha 500ci

I have a TA 500ci printing blank area on most pages. On the print driver I unchecked allow data pass through and I am using KPDL. Printing from the PDF file I went to the advance tab, then went to the font and resource policy tab and changed that to print to image. This fixed the blank areas but now it takes along long time to print. Any ideas how to make it print faster. The customer is using adobe 8.

I an asuming you have the latest Driver and Firmware. after you hit "File-Print" in Adobe you should see a button labled "advanced" on the lower left of the print dialoge box, open that and set the Font and Resource Policy to "Send for Each Page". See if that helps

ps. I am running Reader 7.0 which is mostly trouble free but we have run into issues similar to what you describe in 8.0 in the field

    Let us know what happens

This is exactly the same problem we have on our Sharp color machines. Some PDF's will not print correctly in any driver unless 'Print as Image' is selected. However, the speed of processing is then quite slow. This only started happening with Reader 8 and all newer versions since.
On our workshop tests, the same PDF's print at the correct speed with "Print as Image' selected when using any version of Reader lower than 8. Also, these PDF's dont need 'Print as Image' selected in versions lower than 8, but both methods have been tried OK. But, the downside of using an earlier version of reader is, some documents either will not open correctly, or have missing data on them. Using the newer versions of reader is always recommended, but there are some printing issues.

I have had similar experiences as wazza. Just because it is a PDF does not mean that you have to use KPDL emulation. I have had the best results with PCL XL emulation, especially printing PDFs. And only change the emulation at the driver. If you change the printer emulation setting from Auto you will very likely get some PostScript errors. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

When adobe 8.0 came out it brought printers and copiers to there knees. download and update to 9.0 and use the print as image button. See if this takes care of the issue. If they must use 8 then get the latest patches so it is not .0 go to at least 8.1
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

We have the same (but not as many) issues with 9.0 & 9.1.

The problem is still there with the newer versions, just not as bad.
