DF 780(B) various jams and other faults

The main jam code showing up is 94 along with a few 93,s. Also a couple of 81 and 82, which I think relate only to a 3000 sheet finisher. Folowing these codes and a firmware upgrade machine is showin C8800.(machine is the new 52 copy model). Also recently I had two of these finishers opened from new- setup in workshop before delivery telling me there was a paper jam between the finsher and the machine! Then yesterday I had 780 that would not jog the paper into position correctly during double stapling(A4 lef). Does or has anybody else have any problems or indeed fixes for these pieces of apparent shite?
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I can confirm more-than-the-usual number of J93 & J94s, usually accompanied by a flipped corner, but I haven't any bright ideas or I'd have tried them myself. Version 6.03 firmware solved some of these (CS-250ci), but not all.

Also my customer keeps removing the clear switchback guide between the copier and the finisher. I don't know why. It seems to work fine once the guide is back in place.

I'm just glad we've only got a couple in the field. The majority are DF-760's. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

The small finishers are all too low from factory, adjust higher. The large finisher 3000 need to have the jogger arms checked. Run U240 width test (LD) then slide assembly out of finisher, slide a piece of letter paper in and see if the joggers are too close together< should slide in easily. To adjust go to U246 and increase width F and R and retest with U240 until paper will enter in ok, I have many that i adjusted both from +1 to +5. Also note that firmware is at 10 now and have pages of corrections.
Many of the jams on the 420i and 520i are caused by the vertical feed white idler rollers not having enough pressure, pop out and stretch them to fix. Regards, Venom

Re: DF 780(B) various jams and other faults

I know this is an old one, but I came across the J94's , and I have a fix.

The switchback solenoid on the front frame (SBSOL) has a two layer sound damping washer around the solenoid core. The lower layer becomes sticky/mushy and ends up wedged between the core and the inside of the solenoid. The result is a very slow release of the solenoid.

From my watching, I think the idea is that the SBSOL is supposed to actuate just before the switchback motor turn on. So the paper is supposed to slide freely between the rollers on the way down into the switchback, but then get pressure and drive to pull it back up from inverting. With the solenoid stuck on, the MFP has to push the finished copy through the rollers, which it often can't do.

I just removed the sticky layer, leaving a rubber layer of sound damping that wasn't sticky at all.

Oh! And one hint: If the paper entry sensor (PES) reads properly at CN3-4 to ground (2.89vdc unblocked, 0.12vdc blocked) ... don't mess with it! The more I fiddled with PES the worse it got, until I had to replace it. =^..^=
