    Taskalpha 520 (NEC5200) background lines

We just installed 2 of these, & one has background lines on runs over 20 copies or so. The other machine (same office) runs fine. Both have around 25K on them. We've swapped out drum & dev units with no change.

The lines look like what I'm used to seeing on ricohs when there is buildup on the mag roller. Will update firmware next, but look forward to any suggestions anyone may have.

    Thanks in advance...jay

    Got a scan? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I gotta agree with aabarnes. Especially if the streaks extend through the voids. The scan cuts new voids, so we wouldn't be able to tell that. =^..^=

not to be redundant but agree with transfer first. they're new? if they are make sure you get warranty reimb. credit.

i'll double check just to make sure there wasn't a bulletin.

Thanks for all the replies! This site never ceases to amaze me. We did swap the main charge with the drum. I'm meeting the tech there later & well swap transfer with the other machine. I'll do the same wit the fuser if necessary. Machines are brand new.

I'll let you know what we find. Thanks again!

Went out there & met my tech & did all mentioned above & ended up finding that the replacement drum unit (brand new w <3k prints on it) is bad as well, much worse than the other one.

The beauty of it is that the tech that I left there to do firmware updates just called me & said that, after the update, every print or copy coming out of the machine is solid black.

So now the original problem is the least of our worries.
