KM 1820

Hello.We are thinking of getting in some older models to resale to the cheaper customers we have.I was wondering what people think of KM 1820 ,KM 2020,KM 2030.I have not seen these models yet and it would be a learn as I go experience.

The KM1820 are very reliable desk top machines. The biggest failures on these machines are the paper feed tire and the left hinge. That hinge holds the DP up, the spring will occasionally break the plastic housing. I have one of these at home. I have not had any experiences with the KM2020 or 2030 models. You might want to look at the KM1650, 2050, and 2550 machines as well as the KM3035, 4035, and 5035 machines. These are very reliable and should be inexpensive enough.

I concur on the 1820. REALLY good machine. The only other problem I've experienced is with the reg clutch and solenoid. Some people are able to clean them and get them to work but I've had some that just flat had to be replaced.

The 2030 is an old machine. I'm not a big fan of them at all. The 3035 series are REALLY good machines.

1620/2020 are reliable, common problems are - clutch on a bypass feed (I have replaced 2 or 3 clutches, have about 100-150 units)
drum resource is usually more than 150k, there are also cheap compatible drums (with about 80-100k resource) and fuser rollers

we have some 1620 copiers with 500+k copies that are still working fine))) so a good choice for that value...

btw: no a lot of things changed from the times of km-1620... the modern one taskalfa 180 is using almost the same design.....

Hello, The biggist problem with the Km or CS-1820 is the cost of the toner unless youre OK with Generic toner. I try to stay away from genric toner However if anyone has had good results with Katun or other secondary toner Please Let me know I would love to find a trouble free compatible toner for these machines......Ant

We are using mostly compatible toner, works fine... If you want to use only original toner - you can save a bit by buying tk-410 or similar TK for
a bigger a3 copiers (150k drum), divide it into 3 parts (about 295 grams) and use it to refill you toner kits for smaller a4 copiers.... toner is the same

This is true only for 150k drum models... 300k drum models like 2550 have slightly other toner... the particles of it are smaller (that is the reason why kyocera
made additional sensor in development unit)
