Scan-to-Email problem. 1st attempt fails, 2nd attempt is OK

Installed a Taskalfa 250ci last week. The previous machine was an Ricoh AF3228C. I made a printout of the network settings and mail server settings on the Ricoh, and programmed these settings into the 250ci.
When I try to scan-to-email the machine displays :

    - Network cable not connected
    - Hub is not responding
    - Server not reachable

When I make a second attempt, immediately after the failed first attempt, the mail will be sent. When you wait for 15 minutes the whole sequence starts again : first attempt fails, second attempt succeeds.

The machine is connected to the same cable as the previous Ricoh machine. I tried to adjust the Time-out setting in the SMTP-screen in Command Center, but no result. IT-Dept. says all is OK with the connection and mail server settings.

    Anyone had this before?

    Thanks

Re: Scan-to-Email problem. 1st attempt fails, 2nd attempt is OK

I recently had a similar experience on a VoyagerE. Of 10 transactions 5 went through, every other transaction worked. It was going to a free off-site email server. This same company has multiple locations, and each location experiences timeouts.

Just to prove that the scanner works, we set up an XP laptop as an email relay. When setup on-site every email goes through instantly. No timeouts.

The customer interpreted this sequence of events to mean that we did not want to fix their problem even though we knew how. It's another case of a customer who assumes that we are now responsible for their IT needs, for free.

After a lot of repetitive conversation, the customer finally agreed to pay an outside IT firm to set up an email relay on one of their XP PC's on site. It works perfectly. And they still think it should have been for free. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That's like expecting Best Buy to pay for your cable bill since you bought a TV from them. I hate people so much...
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

We don't support offsite email. Unless of course, we're assisting the IT in person or over the phone.

Luckily, most business aren't cheesy enough to have a gmail account.

Mailserver is outside the office. It's not some free SMTP-server. Don't know what software the server is running. The strange thing is that the AF3228C never failed.

Have you used the host name for the server. I would try using the ip address if you are to eliminate a DNS problem.

I programmed the IP-adres for the SMTP-server, but no result.

Today I brought an FS-C8020 at the customers' site. The FS-C8020 did the same, first attempt failed, second attempt OK. When I connect the old Ricoh 3228C, there's no problem. I compared the Ricoh settings with the Kyocera settings, but I can't find anything strange between the two.
I realize that this could be a network problem I'm not really sure about it.

Swap the DNS ip address order of precidence.

    Eg
    DNS1: 11.22.33.44
    DNS2: 55.66.77.88

    Swapped Order of Precidence
    DNS1: 55.66.77.88
    DNS2: 11.22.33.44

Re: Scan-to-Email problem. 1st attempt fails, 2nd attempt is OK

Is it a Exchange server? or run of the mill cable/tel ISP mail server?

how tight is the network security? if its ultra, you wont be able to ping or test any thing.

    if that's the case, SMB.

did you restart the machine after you change the setting in tcp/ip?

is the time server entered and synced? (not that this matters...or does it?)

    DNS primary: router or server
DNS secondary: ISP, google (8.8.8.8 i like, hasnt failed)

    is ARP "on"?

Did a few tests today at customers site with a Ricoh MP C2051 -> No problems.
