I will share my Knowledge Regarding this problem.
This was a communication error between Engine and Main PCB,but we replaced as i mentioned my previous posts that we tried every thing.we made around 6 visits to this machine (3 different service engineers).
At last we pull out this machine and given standby machine to the customer.

We sent email to kyocera and they reply??????????????????????? .they faced this problem in field and after changing fuser unit problem was solved.
you will be shocked that this was a fuser problem.after changing fuser unit machine working perfectly alright.

do you imagine that this was a fuser problem???????

    please keep updating

    Thanks and Regards

You may need to separate the High voltage CPU firmware for the model you sre having trouble updating from the standard firmware and update it first. I believe that BkackCat had some information regarding this problem. According to him KDA no longer offers this file. I was able to separate these files from the standard firmware file and it does work if you have the correct chosen the correct files

    Hi guys,
Can somebody explain me how to separate files for FW update?
    We're experiencing a CF040 on a Task420i and brains are burning

We tried to reset panel, update firmware (USB or CF -> same result).
Every time we try, there's a different error (Panel/CPU/Browser....etc) and the mainframe still does'nt work...

Thanks for your help to come (and sorry for my french-glish....!)

    Dear all,

Cf040, no upgrade possible, stucks at "error, high voltage CPU"

At Taskalfa 250 ci - 500ci itīs mostly broken fuser unit !!!!!!
No drive from the fuser motor, this motor breaks down the 24V circuit and the engine is loosing the 24V.
No 24V at the engine and no communication between engine/ main pwb.

I solved more than 25 cases by a new fuser unit.

    regards

Only upgrading separate parts of the FW....
Open the FW folder, search for DL_CTRL.2KS-MainFW, DL_PANL.2KS-PanelFW, DL_ENGN.2KS-EngineFW.....
Open with "WORDPAD" and copy and past the files youīll find in the txt file into the mainroot from the usb key.
IF you want to upgrade only the main, select DL_CTRL, only panel, select DL_PANL, only engineFW select DL_ENGN and so on.

    Thank you very much KYO_OEM.
I tried but either the CF or USB still not work
    Still in CF040

I've another 420i in our office. What do you think I could replace without risk???
I'd like to try with the Main Board DIMM
Is it for you a good idea?

    thanks

    Re: TaskAlfa 500ci. error F040

    Hello Yalex,

    500ci and 420i are different !!
I donīt know, if you can use the dimm.
    I never tried before.

At 500ci with CF040, you has no entrance to servicemode. But FW upgrade will work.
Which FW upgrade failure you get ?
Do you use a usb key with "write and read" led ?
In normal case when you switch on the machine, after a short time the led will flashing on lightning, depended to your key.
This will show you that the key would recognized and the machine now changes the boot sequence.
Inside is working a linux montavista kernel, like a linux pc......
Boot priority like PC 1th-CF Card, 2nd. USB key, 3td the firmware itselfs on the FW dimm.
Itīs also importent to know if the motors are turning or not.

I remember 1 case, with the CF040. In this case we have had a problem by the wastetoner drive motor !!

At startup no motor turns and we removed all motor connectors from the engine pwb until we are able to upgrade the machine by using only DL_ENGN.2H7 and ENG2H7_1000024001.bin.
This both files you need for ugrading only the engine pwb.
If any motor will make a shortcut in the 24V circuit, the engine is loosing the 24V and you get CF040.
So you must find out which motor is related to Cf040.

    Good luck and best wishes

    Re: TaskAlfa 500ci. error F040

    hi...again.
I'm sorry, I was not clear enough in my explainations:

    the CF040 appears on a 420i.
I've another 420i in the office where I can take different parts.

For the FW update, i tried both CF and USB in an other material and they work perfectly.

In this 420i, the Firmware update begins and is abnormaly short.
The result is Panel update error, or Browser error, or High Voltage CPU error...etc ans it's not always the same error.

I had a call of our Kyocera Support Specialist and he told me to take parts on the other 420i, except the main Dimm (where is stored the serial number).

I just take my screwdriver and I'll tell you back the results....$

    thanks a lot.
