    Saturn CS-250ci, cf248 intermittently

So I showed up with all the usual suspects: firmware, image memory, HDD, main PWB. I actually see the code for the first time (third call).
"Call For Service" (Self-diagnosing) and at the bottom of the screen "cf248".

First I tried the firmware, then image memory, then format HDD, then repl HDD ... then I my brain began to work. I noticed that when the NIC connected, for 1/2 second a flie name was displayed "Executing print job --------------.pdf", then the error. Always the same file name!

There is no server on-site, just a router, so I have no clue which of the 25+ PCs currently in the office is repeatedly sending the same print job, but I do know that it is here on-site, and that it's On, and on the network. To add to the challenge, there are 40+ laptops in and out of this office, depending on the time of the day, and who's working where. And the cast changes daily.

Here's a little trick I discovered totally by accident. I disconnected the MFP, then set a static address on my laptop same as the MFP. When I connected the cable the sending PC is satisfied, and quits sending. Of course, my laptop can't do anything with a PCL print job but I don't care about that. I just want to clear the queue. Then the code vanishes and stays gone. It sure would be nice to know which PC has sent the job. The next logical step is to delete and reload that specific print driver.

I have come to the conclusion that it's a corrupt print driver or corrupt print job that's pulling the cf248. The print history does not store any of these erroring print jobs, and I've seen it at least 6 times (wouldn't that have been convenient?). The Error Log does record the error events. Has anyone else seen this? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    hi,

I've had the same issue on a 400CI.
this issue came from the only mac which was in the network.
whenever he connected himselve, the error cf 248 came back, and after a while F46F.

the only solution was to delete the printjob this pc was sending.

    best regards

I've seen these codes on a lot of different TA machines at different locations. I assumed it was print job or network related errors being they were at sights that have large networks. I never get calls for them tho just see them in event logs. I think the customers just do what the screen says and restarts the machine and carries on with their day. The first few times I saw it I did a lil bit of research and never found much. Now I just clear it out of the counter and move on.

I wish I could just ignore it, but it's happening a dozen times a day now. I didn't see any Macs but I'll keep my eyes open. =^..^=

I had the same code on the same model a few weeks back. After making me crazy mine turned out to be the 2 boards on the fax had seperated at the connector between them. I removed the fax pushed them carefully pushed them back together. No more calls and its been 2checking monthes. The print job could be NW fax. I hate CF codes since they are just generic engineering codes. Good luck.

I would say you found your cause...a bad pdf ....I had a customer that had a file emailed to them and page 21 would always cause cf248, other pages could print. They tried on 2 other Taskalfas and same code. Customer ended up having to recreate the page from scratch.

I am having the same F46F code on a FS-C5100DN. Updated firmware, still popped code. Brought the machine back to the shop, hooked it to our network to try to duplicate with no error. Either the little guy just wanted to go for a car ride or this issue is print job related. I know these engineer codes are pretty secretive but I was wondering if you guys ended up resolving this one?

    Cheers
