I came in for a jam problem and did have a few pages come out then it said remove paper from paper feed tray 1 section. I removed the tray 1 feed assembly and swapped with tray 2 and no change. Still said remove paer from tray 1???? Has anyone had problems with Paper Feed Switch 1? PFSW1 I was not able to locate when I was out at the customer and I only had 1 hr to discover problem.
Any help would be appreciated, sounds like a bad PPSW1. Thanks!

What jam code? There is no PFSW1 or PPSW1 ... how about FSW1, or another letter combination? =^..^=

It is Feed Switch 1 (FSW1, item# 25 on page 2-1-1 in service manual) that must be the problem. No actuator on this switch. I can't find it in the manual. All the switchs have actuator that I see in the parts diagrams. It is a sensor with the two square windows facing the paper path. Can anyone find it (FSW1). The MP tray will feed paper fine but when you switch to any cassette the same message" remove paper from tray 1 feed area with a light indicating the location near that sensor (FSW1).

The jam does not clear, but if you are using MP tray it will say Ready and copy. MP tray only. When you switch back to any cassette it says " remove paper from tray feed area". Something like that.
Check the white rollers on the guide rails the tray slides in on. They can develop flat spots that throw the tray position off.
FSW1 is a reflective sensor, hence no actuator. but if you can get paper to pass from the MP tray (bypass) that sensor is working. It can get dusty however. A little air or a puffer brush will clean that.
If your getting jams J18, J22, or J31 (print the u000 > JAM list), the guide B1 may not be closed completely, or the latch may be broken
Misfeeds Jam J18, J22, J31 from tray #1 or tray#2. Image is early on the paper by 38mm. Buzzing noise intermittently. Guide B1 is not latched at the rear. Without drive to the pre-registration roller, the paper stalls. Close guide B1.

If you look at the paper path in the attachmentKM-C3232_SM_PaperFeedSection.pdf, I believe the MP paper path comes up from the right in a different path that does not pass the reflective type photosensor in question.
I have to go back. This is a back up machine for the customer so it is not urgent. I don't have the code but 18 is what I think it was. The(000) jam code print out has J18 - Total 57, Count 30
Your sensor FSW1 fits in a little window right in the middle of guide B1. I'm still leaning towards a guide problem, not a sensor problem. I've never had to change a Kyocera reflective sensor. =^..^=
