    Kyocera 1820 process unit

I have seen a couple process units break on km-1500 machines, one I was able to fix but the other needed to be replaced and it wasn\'t very cheep. is it just my luck or is there an issue.

I have had a couple of KM-1500 process units go bad early. The entire machine seems very cheaply made to me.

The machines are a little lightweight but that is what you are going to get at that price from just about anyone. I have had the same problem a few times with the process kit. Kyocera has always taken care of them under warranty. the new units are reinforced in that area so hopefully we won\'t see it on the new ones.

Does the unit come apart where the drum half is attached to the developing half? Do your customers pull the unit out of the machine to replace the toner? If so have them leave it in to replace the toner. I\'ve run into this quite a few times. Retrained customer to leave it in when replacing the toner and haven\'t had a problem lately. Knock on wood of course!

They break at the pivot point between the drum and mag roller, most of the time it during a jam removal and yes key-op is important. Kyocera strenghthened up the units some time ago and they hold up much better now.
