Cool Excessive Toner Consumption

Can any one else please tell me if you are experiencing excessive toner consumption on the Kyocera color copiers? We are only getting a return yield of around 30% color and 50% mono of the stated yields, even though the toner coverage reports are saying that the coverage is between 4.6-6.2%.We know that they use a % for cleaning/calibrating but this is excessive. All the machines have the latest firmware as well as all parts and consumables(Genuine) have been changed as per the manual.Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Is that 4.6% to 6.4% per color? On an average of 5.5% per color that's 22% fill.

The quoted yield is based on total 5% fill. Based on the numbers you've quoted that's ~20% cartridge yield. It doesn't take too many 100% fill copies to drive up that usage. To get the 5% to show 100% cartridge yield you would have to show 1.25% per color on average.

Take my word on this, nobody does 5% fill copies/prints.

Are you using the numbers off of the service status page? if so, you need to be aware that they are only the readings of the last page produced (the page produced before the status page you would be getting the numbers from).

Toner usage

I have taken the relevant information from the toner coverage reports.
The copier has completed 123033 mono copies and 77034 colour copies using a total of 25 Black toners and a total of 33 color toners. This is a government customer so that the CPC is fixed and we are not allowed to charge for any excess toner usage.Colour toner as per the report is averaging at 5.5% per color and black is averaging 4.29%.Bearing in mind that each toner is rated at 20,000 copies @ 5% coverage. That's if my maths are correct, only 8002 copies per black toner.

Process black:

Process black is black image that is formed using the four colors (CMYK). The problem with this theory is that black copies made in full color mode count as color copies, and should accurately track usage.
