KM6030 jam code 00

Customer called and said kM6030 was jamming when duplexing. When I arrive there was a jam code 50 which went away and then go code 00 which refers to document processor although the display was showing jam in exit area. No jam in exit area. Unable to get rid of 00 code. Please advise. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

Jam J00 is a "paper remaining at power ON" jam and is not specific to a location. Any jammed paper left in the machine when powered OFF will cause a Jam J00 upon power up.

Here are the most common (but not the only) causes of J60 jams:

Misfeeds (Jam J60, J61, J62, J63) entering the duplex tray for face down delivery. Paper Z-folded in the duplex tray with the rear leading corner flipped. Duplex switchback roller wears more at machine rear. Rough test: Lay your 6" scale along top of the roller. If it touches the guide at rear, replace. Precise test: Using a paper ruler measure roller's circumference at rear. New: 65.3mm. Worn: 64.0mm. Replace duplex switchback roller (302FB19401).

Misfeeds (Jam 00) won't clear. Actuator has been knocked out of vertical path switch FSW2. Install updated vertical path switches (302FB27241) and mounts (302FB07742). See SB# 7476/ 2FB-0041.

Misfeeds (Jam J60) entering the duplex tray for face down delivery. Jam won't clear. Paper scraps left in feed switch (FSSW). Remove paper scraps from the vertical path into the duplexer.

To get current jam information you'll need to go to U903 (... I think ...) and clear out the jam counter "Count" not "Total". If the counter hasn't been cleared since it was new, it's not going to help you to know every jam over the life of the machine. On your follow up call, print the U000 > Jam report. Now you'll know that these jams occurred since your last visit.
