    Kyocera km5050 Touch screen problem

    Hi all,

Today while I was working on the machine touch screen just stopped responding. I restarted the machine with power off/on.
After that I got beeping sound like I was pressing the touch screen (which I was not ). Touch screen still not responding on my touch.
I went into calibration U201 and pressed Start. Got my calibration crosses and one of them was not responding on my touch, but automatically activated itself .
It didn't allow Initializing the touch panel .

I disassembled Operation panel and only thing that looked suspicious was the link on Touch screen which was folded in two places 90 degrees . (image below ) shows the places where it is folded.

I fear the links have been cut. I don't know how this has happened .

How can I test the touch screen ?

Have you tried the search function? I know of at least five threads on this topic:

    What part numbers?:

    Why does it fail?:

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

They go bad and need to be replaced. We have had to replace them on multiple machines.

Thx for links Blackcat. I was searching with "Touch screen" :/ English is not my native language .

Well I hope I can repair my ribbon link cos those things cost 100$ in US and I think they will cost way more here in Croatia because of small market :/

The ribbons don't go bad its the glue that holds the ribbon to touch screen that fails. A few guys have actually fixed these believe it or not with heating area with hair curling iron. I have done it also few times doesn't always work but sometimes. To test them you can ohm between the contacts on the ribbon there are three readings should be able get and if not it's bad. I have procedure some where on fixing if want me email it to you. Here is link to thread where he describes how to fix and readings for testing the panels. http://dnet-km.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/...467#3203947467

You didn't fix it. Don't be cheap. Buy the parts. =^..^=
