    Kyocera C3310

    Hi all

My Kyocera km5050 likes to show me error C3310 (CIS AGC problem) usualy when coming out of sleep mode.
After I restart the machine everithing is ok so no need to replace parts.

Now I want to know is there some sort of calibration needed to make this error stop appearing ?

    Thx

First power OFF then check the the connector at the lower rear of the machine is secure and not damaged.
Second pin out the harness for broken wires.
    Third replace CIS.

(I've never gotten past step two). =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I checked all that is sticking out of the machine at the back . I checked no. 1, 2, 3, shown in the picture.
What did you mean when you said "harness" ? Did you mean no. 1 & 2 pin cables (in the picture)?
Cos English is not my native language I would name some things different

Did I checked all or do I need to open some cover or (pin conector) to check more?

PS. Will test the machine today to see if the error will show up

Before replacing any boards I would Reload/load the firmware to the newest version. Corrupt firmware may cause strange conditions.

Try to replace or clean white roller under CIS. in my case after cleaning white roller problem was solved.

    Thanks and Regards.

In your picture it is #2. Check for bent pins (electrical contacts).

    cable = wire harness

I understand that technical jargon often does not translate well. For example, fuser often translates as furnace, or oven. If you need additional clarification please ask.

And yes, remove the back cover of the copier and document processor, and follow the connector at #2, and check ohms from the main board to the CIS =^..^=

Note: A common mistake is to find the connector loose, then re-connect it while still electrically hot. It will blow the main board.

    Re: Kyocera C3310

    Hi guys,

    1. I somehow concluded that CIS is the "scaner lamp", am I right? Need some instructions cos I am a newbie.
    2. How safe and useful is to upgrade firmware?( in PC world you don't upgrade if it is working ) Will I need to setup my network and other settings again after? Where to get latest firmware for km5050?

I cleaned some dust around the mirrors and the scaner lamp, ccd unit(all below the copier glass)
It is strange to me that it is showing c3310 only when coming out of sleep mode and not always.

I am a computer tech, electronics guy. I know that poaking around the electronics while it is "on" usualy can get you a big repair bill hehe.
Few times I was screaming as a crazy woman at people who where touching hot electronics

CIS= contact image sensor. It's an optical assembly for scanning the second side of originals, found in the document processor. Raise document processor > open lower door > look up.

It's reasonably safe to upgrade firmware, but is not likely to solve your problem. You will not lose network settings or any other copier settings. Latest is version 2.45a

Since the CIS has nothing to do with the scanner assembly or CCD, it will have no affect in solving your problem. It's not strange that you would get the code when awakening from sleep mode. That is when the machine makes preliminary checks to see that everything is working. The only time the CIS is actually used is when scanning two sided originals. Try copying duplex 2 to 2. You'll get the code.

Have you tried my previous suggestions yet? =^..^=

    Re: Kyocera C3310

I checked the pins and the socket as you sugested Blackcat. All is ok. Didn't have a chance to do the ohm check cos my office is closed for the weekend :/
But now I know that the problem is in document processor and I was looking down in scanner assembly.

There is a good chance that some conectors are loos or dirty, or something else is dirty . I got this machine in super dirty state
Still finding parts that need to be cleaned.

I did some duplex scaning a week ago and all was ok (the error was showing then also).
Now I have a good check list and a precise location of the thingie

    Re: Kyocera C3310

    Update:

Seems that cleaning "scanner assembly" (all the mirrors, glass, a bit air blow on ccd unit), document procesor CIS glass, and white roler did the job No more C3310 error (for now).

    Thx all for help
