4500i folding the leading edge front corner

    Hi,

    Anyone had this problem please?
There is nothing that I can see in the paper path, both on the main body and the right door, but I can tell it's after the fuser.
Cleaned all the rollers and adjusted the solenoid for a bigger gap between the guides of the switch back unit, updated firmware, the machine is leveled ...

    Any ideas please?

    Thanks in advance!

Replace the fuser, no matter how many prints it has, 1st edition fusers were crap (overall it's a solid line). There are many service bulletins about many changes on the fuser, that it's just cheaper and time saving to replace it completely. I had similar problem where i almost replaced exit unit, but it turned out to be fuser unit.

Kyo fan is right, there is a boat load of updates for those models. Check the troubleshooting guide, there is a few sections in there about lead edge corner folding.

Ya fuser is bad, as a test try lubing hot roller with silicone oil. Also note km2050 claws fit and may fix problem.

How much lead edge void? I would hope to see 3mm at least. On the machines I've been working on recently its not uncommon to find 1/2mm or less. It leads to a bunch of fuser and post-fuser jams. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Well, if I run 2-2 I see the 1st side coming out with the folded corner, it goes back in and when it comes out everything looks perfect - the fuser takes care of the fold the 2nd time around!

Rather that replace the entire fuser you can replace the sep claw assembly. The film peeling off the claws has been the culprit for me catching the corners. refer to bulletin D159-2LH-0016
