    DP-420 Document Processor Parts

I'm working on a couple of CopyStar CS181 copiers with the DP-420 Document Processor. I need some parts for the document processor but the CopyStar dealer we bought the copiers from tells me there are no parts for the CopyStar available.... I find that really hard to believe! From what little digging I've done it appears several other copiers used the DP-420 Document Processor. I assume the CS-181 is really a Kyocera of some model number. Can someone point me in the right direction to find parts and a parts manual?

    Thanks,
    Tony

    Re: DP-420 Document Processor Parts

It's the same DP-420, and the Kyocera branded copier is a KM-181.

    Other series members: KM-221
    Predecessor by 1 generation: KM-180, 220
    Predecessor by 2 generations: KM-2540, 2560, 3040, 3060.
    Predecessor by 3 generations: KM-1635, 1650, 2050, 2550

The DP's have a mediocre record. Several vulnerable plastic parts, and at least one major update kit.
The engine has steadily improved. At high volume the drums can reach full yield.

That sounds like bullshit, that no parts are available. That model is less than 5 years old.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks laitang.... I'd love to see the parts manual so I can at least have some part numbers to look for.

My users tend to jerk the jammed paper (normally because they didn't remove a staple) out backwards which rolls the lower Mylar guide over on itself. Then everything jams into the doubled back Mylar guide. Once it's been rolled over a few times it gets a crease in the Mylar which ruins it. When I worked for a Sharp dealer many years ago they would issue us a couple of pieces (8.5X11) of Mylar and we would cut our own guide parts. The guides on the DP-420 are a bit more complicated to cut or I'd just make them.

    Thanks for your help,
    Tony

    Thanks for your reply balckcat4866,
We've had very little problems with the CS-181 copier itself and the only issue we've had with the DP's is mostly "user induced". Unfortunately the user issue ruins parts and no amount of "user training" stops them from being stupid. I hate to use the word stupid but after you've shown them time after time after time how to avoid a problem and they still continue to do it..... they're stupid

Are the parts for the KM-181 pretty much interchangeable with the CS-181? I ask that because I know some companies have every part the same but others beef-up the name brand version.

    Thanks,
    Tony
