I cannot speak to the Canon, but the KM-820 will hold up to 1/2M per month for a short period of time. You will kill it in 1 to 2 years, depending on the number of operators, and the type of media you're running. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

How many copies is the km 820 good for..guy trying to sell me on it said , it was a good productive for a print shop like ours that does book..any idea on how many copies before machine breaks down.from use like how many copies could machine have before you would not buy it ?this unit is used..don't want a time bomb..just think people that don't have a vested interest will give honest answer, not to say he's not but this machine is 7 hrs. away..don't know him..mistake ment to say 5 to 10 cases a week..

I've see them get up to 6.5M, and have heard of machines with 20M. What type of media were you hoping to run?

We have some customers with a key-op run 2 mil in 9 months a piece on the 820's with little issue until you hit around 5 mil where it needed a good rebuilding. They were in a school environment and held up pretty well. I like that box much better than the taskalfa 8001 which seems to have more issues. But again it will depend on what your running and the number of users.
