I take it I'll have to format the new drive after install correct? Will all the settings (ie address book) be lost?

Do a U917 backup to USB, Export.
Then when your finished re-formatting, Set the scan card to DHCP to grab the basic info. Set your static IP, then do a U917 import from USB.

Would the Export to USB be a regular 2 gig jump drive?

Sorry to keep poking (but I'll be doing this tomorrow) Is there only one usb port on the copier? Is said port under a cover that I need to remove?

There are a couple. I use the convenient one on the right side of the op panel. It's not hidden.

When you do your export/import enter the simulation, then plug in the USB stick. It will take ~5 seconds for the machine to recognize the stick and darken up the function buttons on the panel. Then select the items you want to import or export, and select either import or export, then Start. When it reaches 100% on all of the selected items you're done.

This sim was added on one of the earliest versions of the firmware. If you cannot find a sim U917, upgrade the firmware. The most current firmware came out just yesterday.

Ok thanks bud. I don't have access to the firmware. I hope the mod is in the current version that the machine does have.

Hey, I was thinking of the specifics of the TASKalfa machines.

The Voyager backs up to a CF card, plugged directly into the print card. You'll want to select SRAM > CF: FAX DIAL INFO

The Voyager was the first to get this functionality, and will backup fax speed dials only, not scan destinations. I recommend that you get a manual.
