    TA-5003i 0511 random jam on A3 orientation

We have a TA-5003i, 80k on the unit, with an AK-7110 and a DF-7110 that gives random 0511 jams, paper makes it to the middle of the bridge unit when jammed. When the paper is running A3 (8.5 x 11), the paper stops in the AK-7110 (Bridge unit), but if we change the paper orientation to A4 (8.5 x11R) machine runs with no jams. Here is what we have done to try resolve the issue, 1) swap out AK-7110 and DF-7110- same issue, 2) swap out fuser unit- same issue 3) swap out feed units- same issue. The service manual shows the 0511 jam to be located in the V section which I am assuming is the exit/ turnover unit area where the registration sensor is located which was cleaned. Anyone run into this issue on this series?

Well A3 is closest to 11x17.... US Letter is closest to A4. Sure it's not just a size mismatch error? If not, check out this thread: AK-7110 Jamming

It's running, 8" x 11" but when I switch it to 8" x11"r it does not jam. I am noticing more 0511 jams on the 02 and 03 series.

The registration sensor is below the secondary transfer roller, under the fusing unit. The sensor is staying active too long. Have you tried feeding letter out of the other trays or MPT ? I would guess feed drive unit could use replaced if everything else seems ok.
Could be a clutch slipping, but there's more leeway for letter-r.
    Hope that helps !

1st. Is the machine set to auto detect the paper size or is it set to LTRr in the system menu. Either way what size is indicated on the event log vs what is actually in cassette? I had one the other day set to auto detect and the lever on the underside of the cassette was not attached causing it to register some other size than actual.
2nd. I almost always loosen the spring on the separation assemblies. Loosening it actually puts more pressure between the feed and separation rollers.

One thing you may want to try is putting some oil on the pivots of the two white plastic arms on the Separation assembly, also if you check the black plastic part the Separation roller is on, the part that rub against the bigger white arm may have a "lip" on it, I have found filing off this lip helps. Have been successful with doing this to fix a lot of feed problems.
Also did come across one the other day where the clutch on the end of the Separation roller was not doing its job even though it appeared okay.

Yes, it does it from every tray, it has 4, 2 being the PF-7100 LCT. I was thinking about the feed drive unit as a possibility.

Yes, it is set to auto detect, and is detecting both sizes on the machine according to orientation. I have not tried loosening the sep spring on the feed units. How much do you loosen the spring?

Has Kyocera had any technical bulletins concerning this issue?

I loosen it one notch, which is all the way.
