    Reynolds and Reynolds

We've been working with a car dealership which uses Reynolds. We're in the process of checking out if the Kyocera printers can replace the old lexmarks that they software uses to print.

Anyone have any experience on the Reynolds software working with the Kyocera printers?

There's only a handful of post's regarding this and have tried to contact the parties regarding this.

But any information in the mean time is much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Re: Reynolds and Reynolds

If this is a proprietary software that generates it's own print language PCLXL or PS3 without the use of a print driver, I'd say it's unlikely.

If you've ever looked at a Kyocera data capture the first line of data is always in PreScribe (Kyocera's native language), then a dozen lines of PJL (Printer Job Language), then PCLXL or PS3. Your proprietary software probably cannot generate the PreScribe code, so any data received will be interpreted as a CF248 print data error.

Carry in a machine to experiment with on their network.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Give it up. It does not matter how compelling your argument is with the car dealership, it is Lexmark and nothing else with Reynolds & Reynolds.

You might make it work but Reynolds will never support it being there so good luck.

We have a dealership that uses Auto/Mate. We upgraded them from Lexmark to Kyocera. We called them to verify. They seemed to be pretty compatible with current printers out there. Im sure Reynolds will work. They'd be pretty bad at business if they can't work with new printers.

Carried in a printer to experiment. We were able to make it print. The only problem that we seem to be having is that some of the print jobs require paper to be pulled from different cassettes for forms and such. We can't seem to make it pull from the correct paper tray. It always seems to pull from the first tray of that paper size.

    So far no CF248 errors.

    Looking into this thou.

    Thanks for the reply!

The dealership actually came to us asking for a better solution. We'll give it a shot.

Been there. Same story. Big Ford dealer came to me looking for a better deal. You can talk all you want to Reynolds, they will sound interested but nothing is going to happen.

Sell the car dealer an equivalent open line Lexmark printer from PC distribution and just go with the flow. You will still make money it just will not be via Kyocera product.

It is strange. Our dealership (with Auto/Mate) needed different trays for different color paper and duplex yada, yada, yada. It all worked. I think their problem is not printers but maybe software companies.

    Re: Reynolds and Reynolds

It can be done, you need to use Kyocera prescribe command language in a pre-amble from the Reynolds and Reynolds software, there in lies the problem, getting someone from Reynolds and Reynolds interested enough to help you do that.

It really isn't worth the effort to be honest. Best bet would be to get on to the guys at Automate and get them in there to oust the R&R rubbish.
