    X955DE Magenta toner low issue

Customer inserts new toner bottle, 2,000 pages later machine states toner is low and needs to be replaced. Device statistics page reads low. Firmware update per Lexmark which didn't help. Replaced toner auger assembly and 480k maintenance kit installed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ask her if she is printing full bleed prints as in white lettering with a full color background.

I had a church doing that and complained toner running out too soon.
Toner was included in contract. I checked toner coverage percentage and it was up to 60%.
Told them to stop or I would charge for color toner.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Any time you call Lexmark, no matter what the issue, they will tell you to upgrade firmware. Are you using OEM toner? Even if it is, I would check the toner level right after putting a new one in. I have heard more than one cust complain about Lexmarks not going the distance.

The issue is the toner cartridge is still full, nearly full, but the machine is reading false low. The machine continues to run until the cartridge is empty but reports a low condition. Thanks for looking and helping. I will post the fix if and when.

Hopefully it is not the board. There is only one, and it cost a lot.

The best advice I can give you is to get the manual and read theory of operation. it will describe how the toner system operates. If it uses a float in the hopper, then it could be stuck. Maybe a dislodged sensor. I have several of the X models in my area, but not that one.

We found a leaking capacitor on the lower engine board. Hopefully the new board will fix.
