    lEXMARK X 658, CONTINOUS JAM AND NO IMAGE ON PAPER

    I have a Lexmark X658 that has continuously jammed after customer replaced the toner cartridge, also there is no image on the or prints. The fuser was so jammed with paper that I replaced it too. Put in new cartridge and same jamming with no image. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

    The customer reported a defective toner error 31.01, I cleaned the contacts and the message cleared, and the machine attempted to print out backed up faxes and jammed, I don't remember the jam error code. I am not trained on Lexmarks and I don't have manual for this machine being it is the only Lexmark I work on, I am for the most part a Ricoh tech. Any Ideas?

    Lexmark X658 has jam code 242.09 and 202.13 and has no printed image, just loose toner on jammed paper. Any advice is appreciated.

    Feed motor on optional tray #2 pickup assembly over-currents. Replace paper pickup assembly (40X3454). Remove copier from paper tray base, to access optional tray #2 drive.

    I actually remember this call. If you don't have assistance on-site, bring somebody. The machine isn't particularly heavy, but very awkward, and difficult to position on top of the paper base without help.

    Sorry. I don't have much sympathy for those that won't check online resources or read a manual. There's a lot of information out there for those that are willing to look. There was a time, maybe 25 years ago, when I only worked on one brand. It's not a huge stretch to work on another brand. =^..^=

    Thanks for the reply, I appreciate your help. This problem occurred after the customer replaced the cartridge, is their something the customer could have done by the way they installed or removed cartridge. I noticed three grounding silver tabs that engage with plates on the cartridge that were bent out of shape. My concern is , why is there no print image on the jammed paper. By the way I did check online, but I find Copytechnet the most helpful resource online.

    There's no image because it's not really a jam at all, it's an error condition, so the machine shuts down long before it would have started writing an image. Lexmark does not differentiate between jams and errors very well.

    I suspect that if you look a little further back in the error log you'll find other occurrences. They just stopped using tray #2. No real connection to the toner cartridge.
