I've really nothing more to add. I've never taken apart an ITB. No reason to. Sounds like this is just an exercise to "figure it out" not having to ultimately fix it for a customer?
Final check is to remove the laser/scanner, take it apart. See if maybe something is wrong there.
Jack it up and slide a new one under it.
Seriously, I believe it is the laser in the magenta position causing the problem. Could it be something in the laser unit besides the laser?yes. am I gonna take it out? no. If I had another one that I knew worked would I install it? maybe, but there's still no way for me to tell if it's the laser or the control board because I don't have a wiring diagram or schematic. I gave it a shot at saving a machine that we still have supplies for... it will now go to surplus and probably be sold on ebay as is.
The contacts on the print cart block short to the frame. Loosen the screws on the plastic frame and put black tape behind it, to insulate it from the metal frame
