Lexmark 4227 Plus 637 Machine Check CA Drive Error

The below is how Lexmark says the problem can be corrected. So far no dice. Anyone have any experience with solving this issue?

Error: "637 Machine Check CA Drive Error"; Faint print; Paper jams at printhead; Ribbon shield is damaged
Solution

1. Tear off any paper at the top of the printer.
2. Press the Load/Unload key.
3. Turn the printer off.
4. Press and hold the FormFeed button and turn the printer back on as you do so. Note: Hold the FormFeed button down for a full three seconds after turning the printer on before releasing it.
5. Press the Micro Up or Micro Down to change the value of the position "Pos = XXX".
6. Press the Tear Off/Store button to save the setting.
7. If needed, repeat steps 1-6.

Note

The position should be within the range 060 to 080. The higher the position, the wider the gap.

Problem resolved. Turns out all the printer ribbons tried appeared to have the same manufacturing defect.

The ribbon shield was not up to specs. Thanks All.
