Firstly hello everyone! / Canon 4080 Owner Copier Newbie

I have recently purchased a canon IRC 4080i as I run a small publication in my home town.

The idea was to learn this machine and try a few things out at home as pilots which I will then send to the commercial printers who do my magazine.

At this point I am trying to understand how i can basically get the machine to do more than just print and would dearly like to learn how to using the saddler unit I have with it.

    The items I am trying to learn are;

    1) Print a photo without the white boarder
    2) Learn how to duplex pages
    3) Put those duplex pages into folder book that is stapled on the spine

I can not seem to find a interface / GUI for my PC that can see the machine and do this stuff, I would be really grateful for some links or input if at all possible.
    Many thanks J

Try posting your question to the Technical Forum for either Canon copiers or Canon printers. You have a lot more experienced Canon techs see it there.

This can be a difficult concept for some members. People like me can stop in at Copytechnet once a day for a few hours. This means that an extended conversation can take several days to complete. In an environment like this, you aren't going to get answers within minutes, and the person with the answer may not check in for a few days.

As a forum for techs, this is a completely normal situation. You work on a problem for a couple hours, maybe make some progress, then get called off onto another task. The next day or a few days later you may get another hour to work on it.

Please try to exercise some patience. Most of us here have full time jobs, that does not include our time volunteered here. You may not believe it, but this is the patient blackcat.

I can give an answer on question #1) All laser printers including your machine require void areas for the paper to pass through the machine unmolested. If the void areas are reduced to less than ... say 3mm, the leading edge of the paper will wrap onto the fuser rollers and require a technician to remove. Do you understand the concept of full bleed 12" x 18" paper? Essentially, there is an extra 13mm along each edge, so you may trim off the void areas, and have printing right to the edge of an 11" x 17" page.

    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
