Newbie with a Oce TDS 320

    Hello geniuses....

Great to find these forum, i wasn't aware of this website.

We are services / fixing an issue with our customer that has an Oce TDS320. It has been offline for over 2 weeks now and Oce have exhausted their australian experts skillset.

I found this website by searching for issues with the model which lead me to:

I made a post to that thread asking if he ever got it solved, but who knows if he get's notified of the post....

We have a similar issue as per the linked thread, however after replacing pretty much everything except the low voltage board we are getting:

    - horizontal bands equally distanced apart
    - 'very' faded image on the print
    - light grey background (smudgy), not solid grey on entire page.

If anyone can help here it would be GREATLY appreciated...

    Update:

Today we checked the voltage on the High Voltage Board on (test point 1) Tp1 and TP2 and this returns 1000 V on the Multi-Meter.
The Oce tech confirmed via phone that it should be 800 V.

TP1 & TP2 drops in voltage on exactly one full rotation of the drum. This matches the white bands we are seeing.

We put back in the old Drum and the Horizontal White Bands dissapeared...

We still have the following issue:

    - 'very' faded image on the print
    - light grey background (smudgy), not solid grey on entire page. lighter from left to darker right (facing printer)

Again any Oce Experts please help if you can!!.

could you scan a print and upload it here .
Check the input voltage to your machine . Check if its voltages is correct and you have proper grounding . I am not sure if this is anything to do with your issue but work a check.
a machine is only as good as your tech : source:screwtape ; the scary one

Today we replaced the high voltage board... Now we are getting blank prints! The voltage measurements on the Board are better, now 600v on test points in above post! However, other measurements do not match the service manual

Late though it maybe, I'd like to share our actual experience with what I assumed to be near the same technical problem you encountered:

          Symptoms:
          1. White band on copy, perpendicular to feed direction. Developer is also found on the copy.

          2. If symptom no. 1 is left unnoticed and the job is continued, it will eventually result to developer loss, which also results to a light copy.

          Diagnosis/ Action Taken:
          1. The moment the developing unit bias voltage drops down from -600 V, symptom no. 1 is observed. The bias voltage should be consistent during the whole copy cycle.

          2. A part of OPC drum was observed to be stripped off of its photoconductive layer, thus exposing the metal base (cause unknown). This is the most probable cause of developing unit bias voltage dropping down intermittently (short-circuiting to the exposed metal base). Replacing OPC drum resolved the problem.

          3. Installed new developer and OPC drum.

We sold the customer a new unit and bought back the old one.
We Fixed the problem by replacing the power board (The one under the keypad)
