CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 11/04/09 -- TransCanada Corporation (TSX: TRP) (NYSE: TRP), (TransCanada) today announced that the Board of Directors (Board) of TransCanada declared a quarterly dividend of $0.38 per common share for the quarter ending December 31, 2009 on the Company's outstanding common shares. The common share dividend is payable on January 29, 2010 to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 31, 2009.The Board also approved an initial dividend of $0.2899 per share for the period September 30, 2009 to December 31, 2009, on TransCanada's outstanding Cumulative Redeemable First Preferred Shares, Series 1.
