using fax on a voip lines is tricky, but doable. here are a few things to make it work.
on panafax models, turn off ECM
V34 mode
short protocol A and B
do not use the fax and alarm monitoring on the same line, because the alarm uses a 25 Ma current loop to monitor line cut, this current loop can kill the fax transmission.
ask your voip company to configure the phone adapter with a non compressing codec. , they normally use the compressing mode to conserve band width. does not work well with fax.
