Dell C2665DNF Color MFP Scanner Showing Bands of Light

I recently picked up a Dell C2665dnf printer/scanner from my local dump. Amazingly, it prints very well without issue!

However, strange bands of light show up when I try and scan anything. I've attached a couple of scans as an example of what is happening. Does anyone know what causes this or how to fix it?

    Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your reply. The printer prints without these bands when I print a normal document, so I do not think the developer or the toner is the issue. The images I attached are scanned directly to my computer, and were never printed out. I am sure this problem has something to do with the scanner unit, but I do not know what to check first or how to check it.

Glass is pretty clean, I cleaned it off right after noticing the problem. The streaks are very straight so I think it could be a problem with the sensor or the control board.

This happens using both the ADF or platen glass (guessing it should.....same scanning head)?

Looks like it could be a weak CCD on the scanning head, or maybe liquid got into the scanning head?

    The C2665 is a Xerox WorkCentre 6605.

Thank you for your insight! Yes, it happens both on the Automatic Document Feeder and the platen glass. It definitely could have been wet, as it was sitting outside at the dump and water was on top of it when I pulled it out. Could opening up the scanning mechanism and drying it out solve the issue? Or will I need to replace a component? In addition, is there a good set of service instructions out there on how to take apart the scanning module?

You should be able to find the Xerox manual. Dell's "manual" is just that manual broken out by sections. More than likely, you'll need to order the whole scanning unit. Doubtful the scanning head is orderable separately.
