    Okidata C9200: Fatal Error 141

That's "Drum Up/Down Color: Magenta" "When the magenta drum has been detected in an abnormal position."

The book says to replace the magenta drum unit (did that). Also replaced magenta toner cartridge. Then I swapped the magenta drum motor and gear with the identical yellow drum motor & gear. By the way that was quite a treat getting to the drum motors. The error did not change to the Fatal Error 140 ("Drum......Yellow"), so I've ruled out the drum motor, gear, drum unit, toner cartridge, & guide rails left & right.

The M drum motor does rotate in reverse during initialization (along with all the other drum motors). The magenta transfer roller lifts when the M-drum motor is in reverse.

I also swapped the cyan drum/toner unit with the magenta drum/toner unit. The error stay 141 for magenta.

I'm running out of ideas here. What am I missing? =^..^=

Oh Blackcat,I had you up to GOD status, & you've let me down!
So you checked that sides of the transfer belt unit to make sure the arms weren't broken? The other thing I recall is swapping the little 3 springed contact with the black one. I'll do a little more research for you.
So can you go into service mode & run them up & down?
    Hope that helps !

    Hmmmm, terminals you say.....

The plastic arms on the transfer belt are intact, and they move up/down during initialization. The one way gear is not slipping either. I've seen both of those before.

Now the terminals, that's new to me. They are spring loaded (not stuck down), but I didn't examine them past that. I'll look tomorrow.

    As always, thanks. =^..^=

After typing the earlier post, I remember you can switch it with the black because the black drum is stationery. That is the drum contact switch & is what detects the drum up/down position. (I think I went to school on those in 2001 or 2002?) Man, I'm getting old.

BTW are you going to the Kyo color school in Chicago when the new box is launched ?
    Hope that helps !

Absolutely. The boss wants to see me in the first available class. Besides I have family around Chicago, so I can mooch meals from my sister & brother.

I've been watching for the class registration, but haven't seen anything yet.

It was bound to happen. You were going to notice the holes in my cloak eventually. Don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtain.

If I can quote Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day": Maybe God isn't omnipotent. Maybe he's just been around a really long time......"

    Sounds good.

And you were right about the drum terminals. By observation the magenta drum pins looked identical to the black drum pins, but doesn't pull the error when swapped. You saved my customer the cost of a controller board, and a headache on my part.

    Many thanks. blackcat4866
