Oki C9200 Fatal Error

The display reads,

FFF:Fatal Error:44652740

What does this translate into?

Are you sure about the error? This is not the typical syntax of the error message. Usually it looks like "Fatal Error: 121" (three numeric digits). =^..^=

I questioned this myself when the customer reported it. I went on site and confirmed that this is exactly the display. I have used other resources that took me all the way to Oki tech support and they don't know what this is either. My next step is to start removing item (network card, RAM, whatever) one at a time to see what happens. I will let you know if I find anything.

This never happens but, the first thing a tried turned out to be the problem. I pulled the network card (Oki calls it a LANsomething) and the machine came right up and printed test pages. When I reinstalled the NIC it also came to ready and printed. When I plugged the cable in is when the error returned. The IT people on site are sure that it's not in their network so it must be the NIC. Preliminary inquiry seems to indicate that this is a retail $650.00 item so I'm not sure whether we'll go ahead with this repair.

I've had this kind of error on a C5950. When Oki machines receive data they don't understand, they can report some kind of weird service call or error. I connected this machine to my laptop via a network cable and it printed OK.
I think your machine receives data it doesn't understand.

Like Eric says, I'd hook it up to my laptop with a crossover then load a driver. I have become quite skeptical of IT claims that "the network has no problems...".
