| Typically toner sensor failures are caused by one of 2 things with those machines, either not firmly / properly seated cartridges (toner on drum) or a mechanical failure internally in the drum unit (toner sensor gear won't turn, and thusly toner sensor mechanism in toner cart wont agitate and the machine looks for that). easiest way to check for drum failure is to remove toner cart from drum carefully and reseat drum firmly in machine (cuz it gets lifted as well) and jig the cover switch with it open to watch the toner sensor drive gear (on the drum cartridge) with the drum sitting firmly when it get driven you (should) see the toner port get agitated and the toner sensor gear rotating.. if it doesn't u may have a bad drum.. I've seen gears bust and blades flip on those models. also like I said, the drum won't rotate if its not seated firmly when drive is applied.. be careful! it gets lifted up by the xfer belt then lowered, when its lowered, without the toner cart on it it may not seat back into its drive gears fully and may mislead u.. u may also have to (GENTLY) hold it in place when drive is applied, cuz they have a tendency to lift up.. u may wanna call a tech in to look @ it... but thats my (more than) 2 cents worth!
Regards!
