If it's not booting up properly, you've got two possibilities, and the first one probably won't work.

    1) Upgrade or reload firmware. If it hasn't completed bootup it won't take firmware.
    2) Repl PBA main controller.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Thanks a lot, blackcat.
Where can I dl the firmware to replace? And how do I put it in, via a USB stick or via usb cable and a software?

I have gotten firmware from the Samsung service portal. I'm guessing that you're not a dealer and don't have the proper login.

It may be available from the Samsung public site. Do a little Google searching. =^..^=

    Try this: http://www.nodevice.com/driver/CLX-3.../get50211.html =^..^=

    CLX-3175 Jam1, now Jam0

    Blackcat

I have a printer that was getting a persistant Jam 1. I replaced the top set of rollers (recommendation by tech support) and now for some reason I am getting Jam0. I downloaded the service manual and it also pointed me towards this EDC software to try to issolate the bad part/sensor. I found this thread (very helpful) but I have a few more questions:

    1) Any idea what could have happend that would cause my Jam 0 issue by replacing the top set of rollers?

    2) What can I do to fix the Jam 0 issue. Could you post the PN of the sensor I should be replacing and a link to a tech ref that I will need to replace the sensor(s).

    Thank you in advance!

The only way to test out that particular sensor is to meter out the 5vdc output from the exit sensor. You can try to bend a couple of paper clips to use as leads to reach pins #1 & #3 at the sensor or at the HVT connector. Anything over 3.2 vdc is a high reading, anything below 3.0 is a low reading. (Typically ranges from 3.6vdc high to 0.3vdc low)

Or you could just trust me. I've changed over 75 of these sensors, and have never seen another cause. It is a lot easier to diagnose this problem on a CLP-315 (the printer version). You can pop the top off and pin out the sensor all you like. On the CLX-3175 its considerably harder to get to the pins.

If you still want the software just google "EDC Samsung" or "Smart Panel Samsung CLX-3175". www.nodevice.com is a good source for most printer related software. =^..^=

    ok....

    Paul,

As I mentioned in my post I already have the service manual which lead me to the ECD SW and then to this thread.

I am just looking for some additional guidance to help me identify the part I need to replace.

Problem is that I am stuck at a Jam 0 not a Jam 1.

Jam 0 is a jam in the paper pickup area.

    1) The pickup roller may be worn or dirty. Replace pickup roller.
    2) There may be some paper left over from a previous jam in the paper path.
    3) The paper tray may be mis-adjusted for the paper size loaded.

The exit sensor is the only sensor subject to failure due to exposure to heat from the fuser. I have never needed to replace any other sensor on this model.

Does the Jam 0 error clear temporarily? It's quite possible that you mis-assembled something along the way while you were changing the exit sensor. I couldn't even begin to guess what that might be. Maybe it's time to call in a professional? =^..^=

    Blackcat,

The Jam 0 only clears if I pull the paper jam out and then the printer feeds a new page which is grabbed by the pickup roller and the thing just halts again with a Jam 0. I wouldn't disagree that something could be re-installed incorrectly but everything seems to be installed correctly. I just took the door off and cleaned a sensor I found that is attached to a little arm that detects paper feeding in. Doubt this is the issue but I am out of things to try.

I would love to have this repaired by a pro. But when I called support they want $250 just to come out and look at it. Doesn't include parts which will probably be $50. I already purchased a new Epson 870 to replace the samsung (not happy about this). So at this point any help you give me will just save me from putting what is probably a perfectly good printer in a land fill.

    thanks
