    SAMSUNG CLX-3175FN Rebooting

I have bad luck with SAMSUNG machines. My fridge, microwave, high-end LCD television AND my printer all stopped working after 2 years..

I wont bother you with questions about my microwave, just about my printer. It works 50% of the time. When it doesnt work, it keeps rebooting. Immediately non-stop, or with a few seconds/minute delay. Sometimes I can see very briefly a message saying something like internal power error (...cant read it well, but it looks like it) and very quickly after that it shows junk-data (like %^$&^&*&*^$#@#$%) and reboots.
For me, without service manual, it looks like a power(adapter) failure.
So I bought -very cheap- a second hand none-working CLX-3175FN, from someone who fed the printer with the wrong paper (the ad mentionted: printer with small defect, but after a while the guy mentioned the fuser is dead).

    My questions are:
    - is it likely that I have a power-adapter failure?
    - any tips for me? this weekend I'll try to replace the power adapter.

Remark: it looks like when the room temperature is a little higher than normal, the printer shows this defect.

It would help to know the actual error message.

If it's showing "System Error Cycle Power" I've got some bad news for you. That error indicates a bad fuser, just like your parts machine.
If you're having a hard time getting the error message, load SmartPanel. It's a small utility that runs on your PC that monitors the printers status. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Re: SAMSUNG CLX-3175FN Rebooting

Thanx for helping me out. It's defenitely not "System Error Cycle Power". The message is only visible for a split second before turning into rubbish characters, I should have made a video with my phone and replay it slowly. Somehow I find it hard to believe that a bad fuser results in distorted error messages on the lcd screen.
Well, I got a service manual. See the "thing" is called a SMPS (switching mode power supply), shouldnt be too hard to exchange. I'll replace it this weekend and will let you know after.

Sadly, switching the power module does not work. The lcd screen shows very short internal error, weird characters and reboots. Any idea what to try next?

How about loading SmartPanel to see the message?

If we're just guessing, the PBA main controller is the next guess (JC92-02046A):

Can you tell me where I can find the SP program?
And, is the PBA main controller printer-type dependend? Because my printer is an FN and the spare part one I got is a plain 3175 (no network or sheet feeder).

    For SmartPanel go to:
    Samsung
    select Drivers

    Don't you just love Google?

If you are going to use the spare controller you will have reduced functionality (no more network printing). Or you can buy a replacement part.

    [edit]
Thank you for the link; I did find that (I use google too), but in the list of drivers. you can only find SMARTPANEL for LINUX and MACOS.
    That's why I did ask :-)
