    HP E87660DN Range

    Hi Guy's N Gal's,

Anyone had experience of the new E87660DN range of A3 MFD's.
We have had another dealer go into an account offering very low cpc toner inclusive contracts.
Initially I had heard HP were going down the inkjet route, however these seem to be toner machines.
Is this just HP trying to buy the market back?

    Re: HP E87660DN Range

We got talked in to selling these HP / Samsung boxes and they have been nothing but trouble. Mechanically they are no better or worse than anything else but operationally they are crap. We have had firmware update after firmware update and as fast as they fix one problem they create another. The main problem was their decision to run a HP operating system by overlaying it on the Samsung one, not replacing it.
As a copier they are just OK just very slow to respond and too many buttons to press just to get a simple copy. As a printer, mega problems as they have trouble interfacing with applications and solutions such as Equatrac. You put in a whole bunch of settings, it works, back next day as all the settings have decided to change themselves to completely different settings by themselves.

Customers hate them as they take too long to do anything, i.e hit print button and 10 sec delay until ADF feed tray lifts then another 15 to 20 sec before it starts to feed the originals.. Doesn't sound much but in a very busy office it's an eternity especially when the previous copier did something the moment you hit the green button.

Just had a major law firm order us to get the fleet of these clunkers out and replace them with Ricohs or they will sue us.

And don't ask about support from HP, there is none. Taken us a year to get access to parts manuals, which don't show all the parts, and they don't seem to know what a service manual is and why a field tech would want one.

Also heard that the design engineers for these copiers are not a very happy bunch of campers. Went to bed one night as Samsung employees, which is a very prestigious job in Korea, and woke up the next morning as HP ones which they think is the pits.

And as for the A3 Pagewide inkjet.....what a joke! CQ is abysmal, toner price is horrific and they use a lot of it. The only nice thing anybody has said about one is that it was very quiet.

As soon as the Boss comes too his senses and gives HP the flick the happier we'll be.

And just to prove what a piece of crap the HP/Samsung operating system is this just landed on my desk.
This came from a E87660z. It hasn't just printed a mirror image its turned each individual character around and then lost some. In 30 years I've never seen anything like it.
