Re: Connect a laptop to a printer directly with ethernet cable using Windows 10

Ok great that means computer sees the printer next what kind of printer is it?

You must download the correct printer driver from the manufacturer DO NOT USE WINDOWS DRIVERS!

Download and install it's a local printer if you need to set up a port use standard tcp/ip port 9100 raw and uncheck snmp box

Several Konica Minolta models have a network interface, PageScope, and ping, but cannot print if they do not have the optional print server. I wasted an embarrassing amount of time on a bizhub 501 trying to get a print, but it was never going to without the option. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Angry Re: Connect a laptop to a printer directly with ethernet cable using Windows 10

Well the update to this is I am still not getting anywhere.....

Trying to direct connect with a patch cable to an Oki MB470 using an Acer netbook with Windows 10 [32bit]. I want to pull up the printers web interface page using Chrome. [doesn't work with IE either]

    The printer IP is:

    IP address 192.168.0.80
    Subnet 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway 192.168.0.1

Going into Network Sharing > Change Adapter settings > Unidentified Network > Properties . IPv4 Properties > IP address

I have entered 192.168.0.81 as an address for the netbook network setup in the TCP/IPv4 properties

    Notes:

Wireless Network in Change Adapter settings is Disabled
    Windows Firewall is Disabled
Correct printer driver was downloaded from Oki website and installed. In Devices and Printers it shows the MB470 installed with a green arrow showing it as the default printer.

    Problems-

When I open chrome and type in "192.168.0.80" it gives the error "Unable to connect - the device took too long to respond"

When I send a Windows test page to the printer, I get the error "Error - unable to print test page" but no other info

Open Command Prompt and ping printer and it shows 4 packets sent, 4 packets received and 0 packets lost

Never had this problem using Windows 7 on my prior laptop

What the IP address on the reply? If it's your laptop then it's not seeing the printer
some laptops will auto switch the network port to a crossover connection. If it's the laptop ip address then your laptop is NOT auto switching and you will need a switch or a crossover cable in order to connect to the printer.

So are you saying you only have this issue on your laptop?
    Have you tried another PC?

As I mentioned before, it worked with my previous laptop with Windows 7
So yes, I know it's an issue with this netbook with Windows 10. But I need this netbook to work, that's what I'm trying to fix

The IP address in the reply is 192.168.0.80....the printer.

So the issue is with the PC. Need to figure out how to fix the PC.
