    35xx / 45xx / 60xx PostScript question...

Hey guys, I'm new on here, so be gentle, okay?

I'm running into a strange issue on a DP-4530. I've installed a PostScript key and an F-Rom board and updated the firmware. Do I absolutely need the Hard Drive for resident font storage in order to get the PostScript function to work? When I check the print button, it tells me that the print function is offline and does not let me turn it back on. It just gives me the three "hey dummy" beeps. I can ping the copier, I can telnet into certain ports, I can scan back to my PC just fine.

Any thoughts? Is the HDD mission critical for PS printing?

No you do not need a HD. You do need the EM600 memory board which it sounds like you have. It is very important to have this board pluged into slot 1. That is the slot on the right if you are looking at the board. Then update the firmware and make sure you load the PS firmware.

That's what I thought. Everything was right, it just doesn't come online. We tried a different key and a different mem board, still nothing. We removed them all together, and it comes back online. It sounds like the firmware didn't take.

Would this happen to be Robert from the old Panasonic branch in SLC?

Make sure the memory card is in slot one. It will not take if it is in slot 2. I never worked for the branch. i was the panasonic dealer before the branch and then worked as a FSS for 10 years with Panasonic. Now I own my own company again. Whos this??
