    E3-40 is a bad sensor in the DV unit or a bad SPC board.

    are in the drum unit

    Your copy density sensors have toner on them.They are located under the rear side of the drum. You will need to replace the toner scoop, side seals, cleaning blade and possibly drum.Also if your dev is old and copier overtoned, you will have to replace the dev.

    My bad, I was thinking of the 80 series where the sensor is removed! Good thing onetek and ESTAN are on top of it.
