    Rio Olympic Moments (2016)

I thought I'd share some of those inspirational Olympic moments where you catch yourself
with that glint of moisture in the eye or that lump creeping into the back of the throat.

The Aussies love our sport.... IMHO:

o Fiji Rugby sevens(Fiji Island). First ever Olympic medal for the small islands of Fiji.
It must have been very important occasion as the president of Fiji has given a public holiday in their honour.Well done fella's. Their extraordinary win jerked on the heart strings just a tad.

o Catherine Skinner(AUS) Woman trap shoot. She didn't believe she could win after coming from behind. Well done Catherine, especially with the electronic trap equipment being faulty.

o Micheal Phelps (USA). 4 times Mens 200m swimming medially. 4 Olympics in a row.
Well done. You have my sincere admiration.

o Almaz Ayana (Ethiopia) 10km run. Jezzzz, she lapped the entire field with gusto.
    Gutsy stuff. Well done Almaz

It has been rumored that Michael Phelps may try for the 2020 Olympics.
He would be the oldest dolphin in the pool.

Credit where credits due though. 2020 Olympics would be an outstanding out swimming achievement.
Ya gotta luv those chinese acupuncture/pressure cup bruise marks all over his shoulders. It made for interesting commentary from the TV presenters.
I thought he may have been reading the book 50 Shades of Bruises...

I understand how the Olympics are a chance for the world to come together, but am I the only one who sees cities spending billions on the games and then leaving all these stadiums to rot, as a huge waste of money. Why do all the games have to be in one city? Why not have the games in cities all over the planet at the same time and use already existing infrastructure?

For sure...I agree with what you say to a point, the Olympics are a grand waste of money and resources.
The problems in your existing infrastructure argument would be a world wide time frame and climate difference, plus world wide media telecast synchronising etc.

A world wide segregated Olympics using existing old world infrastructure could work, but I feel it would be similar to having a birthday party for one of your children and have all their friends login to the party from the internet. The party would definitely work, but I feel the point of coming together in unified celebration would be lost.

All in all thought it is honourable to be the host of a the party, however big or small the party is...

Why is it call The High "Jump" when they literally "throw" themselves over the high jump bar....?
