    Re: The New-Age Tech

I got into the field by driving around with my dad when I was 17. A short time later, I was hired by a dealer where I had all the manuals and dozens of senior techs to back me up when I needed it. Over 25 years (and several companies) later I decided to strike out on my own. But every now and then, when I'm in a tough spot, and I find the answer on youtube, I think back to my old man, who figured it out without youtube... and taught me everything I know.

ha ha -- rereading that paragraph, I make it sound like he's not alive anymore. I see him twice a week, and every time, he asks me to help him "get the damn computer working."

    Re: The New-Age Tech

I started in this biz in '95. We had company Chevy Cavalier and Ford Escort wagons. We were primarily a Ricoh and Canon dealer. Half the car was filled with parts, the other half with manuals equipped with the microfiche parts manuals.
