Definitely need a dad thread. I have a habit of referring to him in the past tense... even though he's alive and well. I think it's because growing up, he was 'Dad.' Once I had kids, he was thenceforth called 'Grandpa.'

Well I will take your remarks to heart ( not really I am just being difficult )

All too often people just want the easy way out... momma said " life isn't easy Son.. just get on with it"

I try to help .. but people just don't always give enough or correct info when asked for it... then you have people that tell you " it doesn't display a jam code".. you go out .. right there on the display JAM E010.. you show them.. "WELL it didn't say that before!" ( yeah right )

I have fond memories of his posts, and enjoyed the many bags of popcorn!

As patient as I normally am, I just couldn't tolerate that guy.

Have son in the business, has been for 1 years now, loves the business/work. Have our disagreements, but over all, love it. After doing this for going on 33 years, wouldn't trade for anything. The business has been very good to us, love the people we meet and with the ones that have been with for over 30+ years, from all form of professions, trades, and everything in between, just love it it. Life is good.

Sorry, I meant to say son has been involved in the business for 14 years now.

Hey tech28, not sure if I understand. Does your son work for you now? Did you train him the "old school" way?

I agree with a lot of what you wrote and sounds a lot like my small business. I also have accounts that have been with me for over 30 yrs. They are like friends after all these years. Funny just recently I actually "lowered" the service contracts for two of my long time customer's. I felt guilty charging them $650 a year for a biz 224e B&W model that is basically only run during tax season. Maybe 2 btls of toner and 1 service call a year if that! So I lowered it to $550. Also I rarely ever raise a service contract each year.
