    Supposed Technicans in the forums

Is it me or do the rest of you get a little annoyed when people pose a question/problem and they don't:

    List the problem
    List what they have tried
    RTFM
provide examples of CQ/PQ ( when possible )
Explain where ( in their mind ) the problem originates

or maybe I'm just getting too old and tried of the BS.

Those individuals are not serious about finding a solution. The questions you listed are some of the key items I look for when I think about answering.

If it seems like that individual hasn't made much of an attempt, or looked an any of the pertinent resources ... well, I can wait until they do. I'm becoming more patient. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

"Instant Gratification" seems to be an appropriate term here.

So, just when is this "old enough to know better" thing supposed to kick in?

Ahh!.... Congratulations. You're fully self inducted into the Copier Tech hall of fame. You may official call yourself a Technician. As a fully fledge Technician your (now) innate abilities identify, probe-into,aline-with any given problem, then your innate Technical nature gyrates around that problem until it solved.

You worry about problems, and find ways to solve them...

    It's a Technician thing...

Don't overly worry about it to much.....

    Welcome to Techo-land.

The posters you speak of, sometimes become techs. They are the ones who ask for help, and when the answer seems like work, they ask someone else. Looking for that magic button.

Democracy is still the worst form of government, except for all the rest of them.

Agree this is what happens with a "public" forum. Not sure why Copytechnet won't go to a passworded format. This would solve most of the issues with ends users asking for "FREE" help, giving out passwords, etc!

Your just being difficult....These people are simply looking for the hidden switch or secret engineering code to reset the error... Besides, who really needs a service manual they just have confusing and extraneous information...

    Cheers...

Re: Supposed Technicans in the forums

It's even worse when you get somebody like that as a collegue! Constant telephones like this:

    me: (sigh) yes?
him: erm ... the screen like says .... error code XXX
me: what does the service manual say about this code
him: Oh I haven't checked yet
me: Well, maybe you should, I don't know every error code for every machine out there
him: Oh erm... hold on.... erm ... problem with the charge roller
me: Well then I suggest you have a look at the charge roller.
    him: You think so?
    me: Yeah, bye

    5 minutes later

him: Say you know that code I got
    me: yeah?
him: What part is the charge roller again?

And this is where I get slightly angry and he complains to the manager that his coworkers are unhelpful.
