Key figure that Mueller report linked to Russia was a State Department intel source | TheHill
5 Discrepancies Call the Accuracy of Mueller’s Report Into Question

So Kilimnik’s delivery of the peace plan to the Trump campaign in August 2016 was flagged by Mueller as potentially nefarious, but its earlier delivery to the Obama administration wasn’t mentioned. That’s what many in the intelligence world might call “deception by omission.”

Attorney General William Barr has said some of the Mueller report’s legal reasoning conflicts with Justice Department policies. And former Trump attorney John Dowd made a compelling case that Mueller’s report wrongly portrayed a phone message he left for a witness.
A few more such errors and omissions, and Americans may begin to wonder if the Mueller report is worth the paper on which it was printed.

The USA is escalating cyber attacks on Russia's power grid with malware attacks in retaliation for 2016 -2020 election meddling!

New York Times: US ramping up cyber attacks on Russia - CNNPolitics

Two administration officials told the Times they believed President Donald Trump had not been briefed in any detail about the US computer code being implanted inside the Russian grid.
Pentagon and intelligence officials describe to the Times "broad hesitation" to tell Trump about the details of the operations against Russia. They tell the Times there was concern over how Trump would react, and the possibility that Trump might reverse the operations or discuss it with foreign officials.

Trump issued new authorities last summer to the United States Cyber Command, which is part of the Pentagon and runs the US military's defensive and offensive online operations, the Times reports. The classified document gives the commander of Cyber Command, Gen. Paul Nakasone, the power to conduct offensive online operations without needing presidential approval.

In 2017, Trump shared highly classified information with the Russian foreign minister and Russian ambassador to the US in a White House meeting, The Washington Post first reported and CNN later confirmed.

Re: How Russia hacked the Democrats email

It was revealed that US Cyber Command launched a full scale attack on the Russian Internet Research Agency on the days around the mid term elections in 2018 basically taking them offline and shutting them down.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.88427b205446

The operation marked the first muscle-flexing by U.S. Cyber Command, with intelligence from the National Security Agency, under new authorities it was granted by President Trump and Congress last year to bolster offensive capabilities. The President approved of the general operation to prevent Russian interference in the midterms, officials said.

“The fact that the 2018 election process moved forward without successful Russian intervention was not a coincidence,” said Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), who did not discuss the specific details of the operation targeting the St. Petersburg group. Without Cybercom’s efforts, he said, there “would have been some very serious cyber-incursions.”

Another element of the Cyber Command campaign, first reported by the New York Times, involved “direct messaging” that targeted the trolls as well as hackers who work for the Russian military intelligence agency, the GRU. Using emails, pop-ups, texts or direct messages, U.S. operatives beginning in October let the Russians know that their real names and online handles were known and that they should not interfere in other nations’ affairs, defense officials said.

The operation also was the first real test of Cybercom’s new strategy of “persistent engagement,” issued in April, involving continually confronting the adversary and sharing information with partners.

In response to Iran's shoot down of a $175 million, high altitude, USA Global Hawk surveillance drone, Cyber Command last Thursday electronically attacked and crippled the command and control systems of Iran's missile forces.

Iran Shoots Down U.S. Drone: What to Know About the RQ-4 Global Hawk | Time

The USA claims the drone was in international airspace in the narrow Strait of Hormuz. This drone typically flies at up tp 60,000 feet, twice the height of a commercial airliner, and from this position could see deep into Iran.

The USA was prepared to launch a conventional cruise missile attack on Iran that was estimated could have cost the lives of 150 people put instead opted for this electronic attack with new economic sanctions to be announced on Monday.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.c155a30fde86

The administration on Saturday warned industry officials to be alert for cyberattacks originating from Iran. Iran uses cyber warfare weapons mostly crafted in Russia. Russia, China and North Korea have all been proven as state actors who use cyber methods to probe and disrupt other nations electronic facilities notably including electrical power grids, oil & gas centers and gov't agencies.

Thursday’s strikes against the Revolutionary Guard represented the first offensive show of force against Iran since Cyber Command was elevated to a full combatant command in May. It leveraged new authorities, granted by the President, that have streamlined the approval process for such measures.
It is also a reflection of a new Cyber Command strategy — called “defending forward” — that its leader, Gen. Paul Nakasone, has defined as operating “against our enemies on their virtual territory.”

“The reality is we’ve been seeing more and more aggressive activity for quite some time.” “It’s just getting worse.”

While the news coverage of the Robert Mueller hearings in Washington, DC on July 24 were like night and day depending on what media source you like to listen to, one statement was made by Mueller when asked if the Russians are still interfering in US elections. He replied:

"They are doing it as we sit here".

Mueller: Russians still meddling in US elections. Anybody listening? - CNNPolitics

It has been well documented that the Russians were interfering to help Trump win the election and defeat Hillary Clinton as they felt this was in their best interests.

Public urgency on addressing Russian interference in the 2020 election appears lacking.

FBI Director Christopher Wray also recently testified that " the Russians are totally intent on trying to interfere with our elections through foreign influence". He added, "they are still at it".

Democratic Senators have recently introduced three new election security bills but Senator Mitch McConnell has blocked all from being voted on.

As a side note, Senator Mitch McConnell's wife, Elaine Chow is the current Secretary for Transportation and has been accused of multiple massive corruption schemes that are direct conflicts of interest with her job title.

Yes it was and still is a witch hunt, they investigated to see if they could find that a crime had been committed. That's not typical of investigations, normally a crime is committed, then investigated.

Although this thread is focussed on Russia's attack on democracy via cyber warfare, the last two responses trying to make light of President Trump's claim of a witch hunt with nothing there to see, seem to have forgotten recent history.

199 criminal counts against 37 people and entities. Seven people pleaded guilty. Five sentenced to prison.
